From a JPG image to accurate, editable text
Use an image where letters are in focus, upright and clearly separated from the background. Small letters, heavy JPEG compression, blur, glare, skew and low contrast can reduce accuracy, so the original camera file normally works better than a copy downloaded from a messaging app.
For example, OCR can turn a JPG photo of an event notice into selectable lines for its title, date, venue and contact number. Correct or copy the output, then compare names, numbers and punctuation with the image before saving the TXT file.

How do I extract text from a JPG?+

Can I convert a JPEG to editable text?+
Yes. JPG and JPEG are the same image format for this workflow, and the OCR result can be corrected, copied and downloaded as plain text. For multi-column pages, recognize one cropped column at a time and check the reading order. Plain text does not preserve the original page layout.
Does JPG OCR work with screenshots and multiple languages?+
Yes. Choose the main language in the image before running OCR. If the original screenshot is available as PNG, that version may retain sharper letter edges than a compressed JPG.
